For the Graphics in Motion module pt.1, my brief was to create a visual sequence to accompany a story from BBC Sounds- Listening Project. The aim was to tell a story through visuals, capturing the essence of the words being spoken by the participants.
For my project, I found an episode featuring two young boys discussing the struggles of living with a stammer. I was truly captivated by the wholesome and almost heartbreaking way the boys were comforting each other.
I wanted to create something playful and impactful using abstract visuals and an illustrative style that resembles childish doodles and their voices.
I worked on a few different ideas before settling on my final storyboard. I used the script of the episode and focused on the keywords and emotions that I could express through this style. I created the finished outcome in Adobe Animate in a frame-by-frame animation style.
I am really proud of the outcome, I feel confident that I matched the essence of the participants and their stories. The feedback I received on this outcome was overwhelmingly positive with comments about how powerful and emotive it is to watch.
