2021
During the 2nd year of my degree, I completed the Working in the Creative Industries module. For this assessment, I acquired an internship role as a Creative Visualiser and Researcher at the non-profit arts organisation, Suffolk Artlink. My task was to design and create a short information motion graphic showreel for their website and social media channels.
This showereel's objective was to display Suffolk Artlink's range of projects and the impact they've had on their community through data visualisation and storytelling.
I pitched my ideas to the team and created a detailed process book to cover my design decisions and thought processes. It was important that I conveyed exactly the right message and fit the existing brand identity of the organisation. I created wireframe storyboards of the animation alongside the provided test to get approval from the board before beginning my first drafts.
My idea was to take the existing brand identity and use it creatively in a hand-drawn illustrative style to convey the playful and artistic side of their projects.
I created this short frame-by-frame animation in Adobe Animate and Premiere Pro that encapsulates the joyousness of the community and their spirit. The showreel was debuted in an AGM meeting with the board of trustees who loved it and shared some really positive and emotive feedback.
It was so validating to see my creative design choices being adopted by their associate graphic designer and see how they directly influenced the design of their annual review document.
I received brilliantly positive feedback from the team and they said they would love to work with me again in the future. This was a great opportunity for me and it was so much fun working with a team of creatives who trusted me to support their project.
