Brief: propose and create a two-week-long project to prepare for your final major project.
I decided I wanted to create the branding for a hypothetical houseplant company and explore how this would be conveyed through Top Trump-inspired trading cards.
I chose this project as I adore houseplants and want to share the experience with others.
I began the project by establishing my demographics, setting the scene for my design and considering how I can appeal to this audience and their expectations. I researched and analysed existing companies and their logos for inspiration, informing my own practice.
I planned for each card to include an illustration of the type of houseplant, key facts and their core strengths. Using Adobe Illustrator I experimented with many different styles of illustration and layout to maximise the likeness to a traditional Top Trump card.
